1st: My Dear Friend
Poem Introduction: The title of this piece is "My Dear Friend." This poem is about a friend that I made and was close with in 2020-2021. He expressed feelings of suicide after we made a promise a few days prior to never forget each other. This promise brought forth the idea for this poem. We would message each other every morning saying that we didn't forget. In May of 2021, I got my very last response from him. After almost three years of no replies, I still message saying that I haven't forgotten about him. He holds a heavy place in my heart, so this poem is dedicated to him. I wouldn’t be where I am in my poetry journey without him.
My dear friend,Â
I truly wonder how you are.Â
I message you from time to time,
With no response, and no reply.Â
My dear friend,Â
I hope you’re okay.Â
You seem to always cross my mind
I don’t forget, I know our bet.Â
I hold that promise to my heart
Even after you went dark.Â
My dear friend,Â
I miss you.Â
Those last messages were gut-wrenching
I hope you’re living and thriving
I can’t think of you dying.Â
You are lovely in every wayÂ
Losing you,Â
I deal with it every day.Â
My dear friend,Â
You’re worth it, wherever you are.
